From Left to right: Blue (Taco), Orange (Nacho) and Green (Burrito) all waiting to be released from their x-pen to play in the dog room–and they love being out! This weekend the pups had lots of visitors. On Saturday Adam and April came over to visit and play–and we had lots of visitors that also came to the see the pups and play with them. On Sunday the pups had several more visitors–so a busy weekend of socializing. Entertaining can be tiring, but after several naps the pups are rejuvenated and ready to take on the world.

Yesterday, April & Adam paid a call on their cousins Taco, Nacho and Burrito. The five of them had company. Lots of visitors came to play with them and they had a great time. We are lamenting that we forgot to take pictures! These pictures are taken today, their 9 week birthday.

April loves to play in our dog yard. Her favorite thing is to find things to chew on….especially things she is not supposed to have. She has learned to go down a couple of steps. She hasn’t mastered the dog door yet, but it won’t be long.
Adam can go in and out the dog door without any help. He’s an active little guy. Yes, that is April in the background, chewing on something forbidden.

Today the “boys” had their first bath and hair cut. Mr. Blue (aka Taco) was the best with both the bath and then the dryer and hair cut.
Green boy (aka Big Burrito) did not have a bath and hair cut on his agenda today–but we made it through. Since the “boys” were supposed to be born on Cinco de Mayo (but they actually arrived 1 day early–on the 4th of May), that’s the reason for the Mexican food nicknames. On Saturday when I weighed the pups I found that I can no longer call him the Big Burrito since he is no longer the biggest of the 3 pups–so now it is just Burrito.
Orange boy (aka Nacho) is now the biggest of the 3 pups. Like the Green boy, he did not have a bath and haircut on his schedule, but endured and we got it done. All 3 of the pups continue to grow and are now trying out puppy food, supplemented by Sassy. This week they have also had the opportunity to get out of their x-pen area and run in the dog room–now it is hard to listen to them whine when they want out to play.

April and Adam visited our favorite vet today for a physical exam and their first set of puppy shots. April was very happy and excited to meet new people and but she didn’t like the shot. Adam was also excited, and he was very curious about everything. The shot didn’t phase him a bit.

Sorry I cut off the doctor’s head, but at least April looks cute!
Aprils good report
Did I mention Adam was curious? 🙂 I think he was going for the stethoscope.

April and Adam had an excursion today. They went to visit their younger cousins at Karen’s house. A fun time was had by all the puppies and one of the perks of a long playtime is the long nap they take afterward.

Dina took this picture of April
Here is Adam, standing like a big boy.

It’s hard to believe that the babies are 7 weeks old. Adam’s weight is generally about 1/2 pound more than April. On Sunday he weighed 3 lb. 8 oz. April weighed 2 lb. 14 oz.

April had her first visit outside. She enjoyed exploring. She also loves to be picked up and snuggled.
Adam loves to play. Yesterday when his Mom did not want to play with him, he snuck behind her and pulled her tail. He got in trouble, but it was worth it!

Blue boy is growing rapidly trying to catch up with his littermates–he weighs almost 2 pounds. Although still the smallest he doesn’t let that stop him–he’s in the middle of every wrestling match.
Green boy is still the largest of the 3 male pups, but only by a couple of ounces. The pups have been more active this week with each other, their toys and their humans. So fun to watch them grow and change week by week.
Orange boy continues to be the pup that is the first to try new things or explore new territory. On Saturday the pups moved out of the bedroom and into a larger area where there is more activity (with people and the other big dogs) and room to run and play–they have adapted well. In addition the pups have started on puppy food–sloppy though it is, it is still a hit and they seem to really like the food, I think the goats milk makes the food more appealing to them. Skye, who is still very much a pup herself, is totally fascinated by the 3 little boys–I’m sure she is looking forward to playing with them when they are bigger.

Today the puppies had their first bath, their first experience with the hair dryer and their first haircut. They get an A +

April, after her bath. She was pretty brave.

Look at that pile of hair! April was a bit nervous with the dryer but I talked and sang to her and she felt more comfortable. She stood fairly still for the clippers and scissors.
First bath? Not a problem for Adam but he’s not very fond of standing for a picture!
The dryer was a bit of a challenge. Adam was like a moving target for trimming. Who wants to stand still when you can be playing? As a reward, he got to play with the big boys for a while. I watch closely to make sure they are not too rough. He seemed to enjoy every minute.
