The puppies from Gloria’s last litter are now nine months old.

Kevin, formerly known as Lucky #7, is on the right. He is sitting beside Auntie Violet with Grandma Flo-Jo looking on. All are interested in the carrots they are about to receive

This is Kevin’s sister, Vera. She looks much more “chill” in this picture than she is in real life.

It’s been a year since I’ve seen Bridget (now known as Daisy)

She came for a visit yesterday and it was wonderful to see this lovely, happy little girl.  She had fun with her Bichon relatives, too.

Bridget recognizes her former home.

What a beautiful little girl! Her parents are Donald x Violet.

Daisy (aka Bridget, aka orange girl) is one of the sweetest Bichons I’ve bred. I love her and so does her new family.

Blue (who was blue boy) was quite shy when he was a puppy.
Socialization works. He is now known in his neighborhood as “Mr. Social.”

Today the litter from Donald x Violet is one year old! Happy birthday to this happy group!!

Bailey (green boy) gives kisses even when he has to wear a cone! I had the privilege  of watching him for a couple of weeks while his family was on vacation. He and Junebug had a fabulous time.

Dash (gray boy) got to go to school for a blessing of the animals.

Pixie (pink girl) loves the beach. She is also training for agility and conformation.

It is time to groom Junebug again.  I can’t say she enjoys the experience,

but she was better behaved than the last time she was groomed.

Junebug has had a growing spurt lately. She now weighs 4 lb. 12 oz. Her second set of puppy vaccinations will be given this week.

Junebug is much better behaved this week.   Being nine weeks old must be like the “terrible twos.”

We typically do our puppy evaluation at 10 weeks old.  Structure and movement are checked to determine if the puppy seems like a good candidate for the conformation show ring.  Attitude plays a big part, too.  Junebug has the attitude part down pat, and I’m happy to say she made a good  showing in the other areas as well.

The leash training has paid off! This is the first time Junebug walked outside on the driveway.  If she could talk, she’d say, “Hey, I’ve got this!!”

Junebug has had some issues this week.  She has been disciplined a couple of times by the older dogs….once because she bit her father, once because she got in Gloria’s face and barked and barked at her.  The girl hasn’t any siblings to teach her manners, so she is learning (hopefully) some doggy etiquette.

Today she got in trouble with me during a brushing session.  She threw a little temper tantrum.  She has to learn that behavior is NOT allowed.

In spite of disciplinary issues this week, we love the little girl to bits.  She has brought a lot of fun and laughter to the family.

In four days, Junebug will be evaluated to see if she will be a good show dog. She and I are practicing her leash work so we can get a good idea of her movement. Attitude? She has plenty. Saturday’s evaluation will be for structure.

Every Tuesday, Junebug is weighed, her nails are cut, she gets a bath if needed, her picture is taken and she updates “her” blog page.  She is just over 3 lb. now.  She loves to play in the grass yard and she loves to play with the older dogs.  She is chewing everything she can find – including human fingers and toes.

Tomorrow she has her first check up at the vet’s and gets her first puppy shots.  As I am writing, she is running full-speed ahead, back and forth in front of me.

It’s hard to get a good picture, as she is usually in motion.

The Bichon Frise Club of Puget Sound held a Sweepstakes and Specialty on July 8 and another on July 9, in conjunction with 5 All-Breed shows.  There was a very good entry of local Bichons and some visitors from Florida, Texas, and California.  The weather was good, which was nice as the shows were all held outdoors in the grass.  Below are pictures from the shows. Above, outside the ring waiting for the Specialty to start.     Below is Pixie getting ready for the show, then Jan with Gracie in the ring.  Sheri showed Mundo to his AKC Championship in 3 shows!  Then Tasheena showed Shae in the 6 to 9 month class at the Specialty and Shae won, beating females much older to get her first win and a 5 point major!!!  Tasheena had a busy day and weekend, showing Kevlar in the first Specialty, Kevlar was Best of Opposite Sex and finished her Grand Championship.  Sheri also showed Burrito (below on the table).  Elijah was entered and is shown below being groomed for the shows.  Last picture is of Pixie and Shae cooling their feet–the weather was beautiful and very warm for furry, white dogs.  Wilson was also at the show, but unfortunately we have no picture of him (he was in Puyallup Thursday and Friday only), but we was awarded Select Dog for 5 points.
